This is what you see as you come down the stairs- I sure need to improve this!

Storage for lots of stuff! Fabric, thread, books and more!

Closer look at that wall- I love my vintage shelves! The little silhouette is me when I was young- my Aunt did it.

Wire racks with lots of fabric- and more stuff to find a place for!

All in all- I have lots more work to do! We take our daughter back to college today, our son is home one more week and then he starts a real job in the Detroit area!!! Then I will have more time to devote to getting this mess in order!!!!

The couch was my parents- bought in 1952....just had it recovered and LOVE it!

Basement sewing area

OK- I've moved my sewing area to the basement...the blue room will be a guest room for now- it just works out better this way. As you can see- this is still quite a mess! I am figuring out where everything will go and share this space with a "rec room" area. Our daughter was home from college for a month and spent much time down here playing Zelda with the Wii....
I am still so frustrated with my organization but there is a reason! We have run out of room!!!!

This small purse is a custom order for a client named Jenny. She specified the size, handles, inside pockets and picked out the fabric. I think it turned out well- it's a cute size that can hold the essentials. Maybe I'll make some more in other colors...

So- I am still trying to figure out how to arrange the new studio. What looks good on paper doesn't necessarily work out when you move the pieces in the real world- UGH!!! This is my newest bag- vintage tablecloth piece and several coordinating newer fabrics. The double button is vintage. I decided to really mix up the fabrics on this one-with the back being completely different- you don't see the back much so I didn't want to waste my precious vintage tablecloth pieces on that- show them off on the front! I think it's fun- happy, bright colors.

Finished these 2 projects today. The pillow is made from a beautiful wool coat that belonged to a friend's Aunt. I had to put the labels and one of the buttons on it - how cool! The wool is sooo soft!
The bag is for another friend- I've had the fabric for years- she probably doesn't even remember I have it...I can be SO slow! I had fun with the adjustable strap.
Now- what to make next????? hmmmmmm

Lucky for me, my daughter, Kelsey, spent some time with me at the Gallery working on her art project. We had a lot of fun and both got work done, too! Those of you in WI , or who have heard of our political situation, may recognize what she is trying to portray in this painting....the finished product may be for sale soon!
She's back at school now and it's very quiet here without her!

2 more bags- I've had that piece of vintage bark-cloth forever and finally it spoke to me! It's a cute little bag! I'm on a little kick with the other style, too. It's a good way to showcase pieces of my vintage tablecloths and I usually don't have too big of a piece to use after cutting around all the stains and holes.

Well, lots has changed since I last posted. The Gallery has moved- 2 doors west- to 128 W James. We are sharing the space with the 1928 Dunbar popcorn wagon that was an icon here in Columbus for many years. It's a great piece of Columbus history! And I can make popcorn anytime I want! YUM!!!
The cushion cover is a custom order I just finished. It has 2 different looks- the yellow piece is from a vintage tablecloth. I am sewing more and loving it!

I love Michael Miller fabrics! This line happens to be "Dysfunctional Family". A client picked out 3 of the blocks and I made these zippered bags for 3 of her friends. Too cute! And funny!!!
Made a couple of onesies, too. many people I know are having grandchildren! I am not ready for that yet, but I'm sure it will fun someday.

I love doing these swaps and I start out all excited and on the ball but kind of "peter-out" about half-way thru! The thrill of starting something new! This quilt for our bed has been waiting for it's binding for a couple of years! It is one of my New Year's resolutions...after this is finished,it's off the the BIG washing machine to soften it up a bit.
Next I will have to make some window treatments to coordinate. I do have some pillow shams started that also need finishing, too!

Just finished! I found this fabric at a local antique shop and had to have it. We host the Columbus Carriage Classic, a pleasure driving competition, here in Columbus WI every summer- this year Aug. 22-24. I made this for a dear friend for her birthday. The fabric is a Waverly- called "They're Off". Don't know what year it was made. I got a good sized chunk of it and will make some more totes and maybe pillow, too!

Some of the excitement here at the Gallery...we are the scene of the Green Castle bank robbery. They spent all day, Tuesday March 18th, filming this scene...the gang coming out of the bank after robbing it. Can you spot Johnny on the car? We did get to meet him very briefly- he is very gracious. They finished up the filming here last night-or should I say early this morning (3am) We will miss them!

Our Bea

This is our Bea-short for Beatrix-she was an English Shepard- the good old farm dog. She passed on March 14th from kidney failure. She was the BEST dog ever-never ran away, never barked except in a thunderstorm)loved everyone, stayed in our yard with no fence! We miss her but know she is at peace now. This was taken on one of her best last days- she loved to be outside and would only come in at night. She was 14 years old.

Universal Studios is filming in our town!!!! The movie is "Public Enemies" starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard. My Gallery which is housed in the former First National Bank is in a scene, we get "robbed'. Johnny will be running out the doors!!! He will be in the building- how lucky is this?

OK- I have to post this...Johnny Depp is coming to Columbus and will be filming for the movie Public Enemies. One of the scenes will be shot in my Gallery!!!! The Gallery was once a bank and will be a bank again- although the scene will be shot from the outside- Johnny will run out of the front doors, get into a car and be drive away. I'm not sure yet if we are being robbed but I'll let you know as soon as I know.
